Dehradun: Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed heartfelt condolence over the demise of the first folk singer of Uttarakhand Kabutari Devi. He prayed for the peace of the departed soul and wished that almighty provide strength to the family members of the deceased. Her contribution in the folk songs of Uttarakhand is incredible. He was an expert singer of the seasonal songs of Uttarakhand. Pahado Ko Thando Pani, Ki Bhali Mithi Vaani….song is still connected with the minds of the common people of Uttarakhand.

Recipient of the President award, Kabutari Devi came from the remote rural area of ​​Pithoragarh and gave a new identity to the hill culture and folk songs of Uttarakhand at international arena. Demise of Kabutari Devi is irreparable loss to the hill folk art. Contribution of Kabutari Devi, a messenger of folk culture for her contribution will always be remembered and she will remain in the heart of every Uttarkhandi.

Chief Minister said that late Kabutari Devi was a vibrant figure of our hill folk music and folk culture. In her songs, the essence of classical music was also present. Remained associated with Uttarayani programme of Akashvani since seventies, Kabutari Devi continued the reach of our folk culture and folk music to people of the country and the world.

Notably, being referred to as Teejan Bai  of Uttarakhand, Kabutari Devi, had publicized and propagated folk songs of Dadi-Naani through Akashvani and other prestigious platforms. When she started giving performances on Akashvani, no female cultural artisr was singing for Akashvani at that time. In the 70s, she reached the studio of the hill village for the first time and made a mark with her songs in the radio world. Kabutari Devi sang more than 100 songs for Akashvani. Her songs used to be broadcast from Akashvani centres of Rampur, Lucknow, Najibabad and Churchgate, Mumbai.
