Dehradun: State Minister for Women Welfare and Child Development, Animal Husbandry, Sheep and Goat Husbandry, Fodder and Meadows Development and Fisheries (Independent Charge) Rekha Arya took a meeting regarding the World Menstruation Hygiene Day on May 28, in her office in Vidhan Sabha on Thursday.
She said that on the World Menstruation Hygiene Day, a special programme will be oragnsied in rural area of Dehradun on May 28. She further said that Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi will be the chief guest and Uttarakhand Chief Minister, as well as area MLAs, would also grace the event. During the event, more and more teenage girls and women, especially those from poor strata, would be made aware about keeping cleanliness and usage of sanitary pad during the menstruation period.
Around 10,000 teenage girls and women will be distributed sanitary napkin and an umbrella on the occasion. The sanitary napkin will also be available to the teenage girls and women at Anganwadi centres. It was stated that sanitary napkin, menstruation is not a matter of embarrassment but a matter of awareness.
