WhatsApp To Stop Working On BlackBerry OS, Windows 8.0 Phone

Instant messaging app WhatsApp won’t support several smartphone platforms by the end of 2017. The company has announced through their blog post that WhatsApp won’t run on platforms like Blackberry OS, Blackberry 10, Windows 8.0 Phone and older from 31 December onwards.

If your smartphone runs on platforms like Blackberry OS, Blackberry 10, and Windows 8.0 Phone, you should upgrade your phone to use WhatsApp.

The Facebook owned company has confirmed that the app will stop working on Nokia S40 devices from 31 December 2018 and Android 2.3.7 devices from 31 December 2018.

Android 2.3.7 and older versions from February 2020. WhatsApp will stop running on Nokia S40 devices from 31 December 2018.

This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp,” WhatsApp stated on their blog.

Earlier in 2016, WhatsApp stopped support for platforms like- Android 2.0, Android 2.1, Windows Phone 8.0, and iOS 6.
