Sports Minister Arvind Pandey holds meeting with sports bodies to promote sports

Dehradun: With an aim to promote sports and encourage young players, Uttarakhand Sports and Youth welfare Minister Arvind Pandey held a meeting with office-bearers of different sports organizations at secretariat. He sought the problems faced by different sports bodies and assured to solve them. The Uttarakhand Sports Minister Arvind Pandey also directed the Joint Secretary,Sports to start a toll free number to listen to the problems being faced by sports persons.

The Minister also sought a list of national and international players from the different sports bodies in their respective fields and also asked them to sent him a report of their achievements in their sport. He also asked the sports organizations to give him a proposal on the facilities that could be provided by the state government.

The Sport minister Arvind Pandey appointed AssistanT director S.K. Sharki, as nodal officer to llok into the problems faced by the sports bodies and circulated his number to the office-bearers of the different sports bodies.

The Sports Minister expressed his displeasure at the delay in the registration/  renewal of sports bodies and directed that the person incharge should be changed and asked the sports officers to review and act accordingly. On the demand for training of Baseball players in Suddhowala area, the minister directed that five acre land should be searched for the purpose.  For training of Judo players, he directed the Joint Director, Sports to provide space for training in maharana Pratap sports Stadium.

The Sports minister said that the purpose of holding meeting with different sports organizations was to find solution to the problems being faced in nurturing young players. He said that to sort out the problems between two rival football association , a meeting will be held with the office-bearers within a week.

 Kayaking and Rafting association secretary and Kedarnath legislator Manoj Rawat said that infrastructure facilities for kayaking at Roorkee and Salalam sports at chandrapuri (rudraprayag) are available. He called for holding of a permanent camp for water sports training in the state.

Satish Sharma, general Secretary of Judo association said that by providing priority in jobs, scholarships and training facilities will attract youth towards sports. Karate Association office bearers sought a place for training players at Tehri.

Uttarakhand Sports Secretary Bhupinder Kaur Aulkah, Joint Secretary Attar Singh, Additional Director Dharamender Singh,  Harish Bhatt of Uttarakhand Volleyball Association, Virender Singh Rawat of Uttarakhand Football Association, S.P. Chamoli of Uttarakhand Winter Games Association, L.S. Mehta, secretary of WGA, Bharati Bhushan Chugh, President  of Disabled Sporting Society, Uttarakhand and secretary Harish Chaudhary, Lalit Arya, executive member of Taekwondo Association along with other office-bearers of other sports bodies were present in the meeting.
