Satpal Maharaj holds meeting on flood control measures

Dehradun: Satpal Maharaj, Uttarakhand Minister of Irrigation, Flood Control, Minor Irrigation, Rain Water Harvesting, Watershed Management, Indo-Nepal Uttarakhand River Projects, Tourism, Religious Tourism, Religious Fairs and Culture, held a meeting on flood control measures and preparations under irrigation department, on Vidhan Sabha here today.

 He gave directions that in view of the monsoon period between June 15 to October 15,2018 all the necessary preparations for flood control in the districts should be in place.

He said that all the places with potential danger of flood should be identified and precautions should be taken. He said that flood control room should be established and telephone and fax facilities should also be provided. The flood control room should work round the clock.

During the meeting it was decided that teams at the divisional level should be formed to keep a check at dams and barrages for flood security measures so that the system could work well during monsoon period.

He emphasized the need for innovative measures for flood control measures. He also instructed that work on 40 MW solar power project should be started after giving urgent approval. The instructions for start of the Song Dam water project were also given.

The Minister said that financial resources should be managed for Jamrani and Tyuni Plasu Hydro power projects. Anand Vardhan, Principal Secretary, Irrigation, Additional Secretary, Irrigation, Devender Paliwal, Chief Engineer Irrigation Mukesh Mohan and other departmental officers were present on the occasion.
