Role of Green Energy in Sustainable Future, A national seminar at Himgiri Zee University

Dehradun:Himgiri Zee University organised a national seminar on the theme ‘The role of Green Energy in Sustainable Future’. Ph.D scholars from all over the country presented their abstracts and papers on the theme. Students from various disciplines also participated in the event in a brainstorming session ‘Environment vs Development’. The University has been regularly making efforts for raising awareness about Environment Protection and Sustainable Development among the masses. This is a second year in a row that the University has organised a national seminar on the issue.

The session began with a lamp lighting ceremony by the vice-chancellor of the university Dr. Rakesh Ranjan. On the occasion, Dr. Ranjan announced the installation of 100 KW Solar Panel in the campus to encourage the use of renewable energy and doing away with fossil fuels. He also added that at the time when environment pollution and its protection have become one of the biggest challenges for mankind more and more such events shall be organised.

Students and faculties worked alike to make the event successful. Certificates of participation were provided to all the scholars at the end of the seminar. In brainstorming session Prity Swaraj from the department of mass communication and Sugam from the department of forestry received the first and the second prize respectively. The third prize went to research scholar Mr. Rakesh. The organising committee of the seminar included Mr. Amit Kumar, Mr. Pushpendra Verma, Mr. Satyen Chhetri  and Mr. Deepak Chandola. Advisory committee included Dr. Sharad Pandey, Mr. Rakesh Arya, Mr. Saifullah Khalid and Mr. Sudheer Deoli. All the HoDs and Dean of various departments were present in the event.
