Ram Mandir issue: Only Ram temple will be built in Ayodhya, says Mohan Bhagwat at Dharma Sansad

Uncategorized

The three-day Dharma Sansad in Udupi has already made the headlines with the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat coming down heavily on the Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar.

Bhagwat, while speaking at a special gathering on what course of action the Vishwa Hindu Parishad should take in the Ram Janmabhoomi issue, attacked Sri Sri by stating that there is no need for him to mediate.

“There is a famous person. The one who we know through media. He is part of the talks. He came and met me and wanted to discuss about the issue (Ram Janmabhoomi). I said it is not our job at all. He did not listen to me, and tried to pass a resolution at a programme I was present. The Dharma Sansad is there to lead the way”, said Bhagwat.

The Art of Living founder is expected to participate in the Dharma Sansad to address issues such as cow slaughter and conversions that they feel are plaguing the society.

Speaking earlier in the day during the inaugural session, Bhagwat did mention, “I am asked the question when will the Ram Mandir be built?

“It’s going to be 30 years now. Balasaheb had said it will take 15 to 20 years. We wish that temple should be built at the same spot in Ayodhya. There is a always a distance between the cup and the lip. So as we get closer to our goal, we should be careful. But we should safeguard our Hindu culture”, Ram Janmabhoomi par ram mandir hi banega. Usi pathar se banega”, said Bhagwat.

VHP leader Praveen Togadia who was at the event too said that they are hopeful that the Ram temple will be built. But, it is the Sunni Waqf Board who are not ready to compromise. When asked what would they do if talks fail, or going to courts is their only solution. Togadia dodged the question stating that the hurdles must be removed for the Ram temple to be built.”

Nearly 2000 sadhus and religious leaders are attending the three day Dharma Sansad in the quaint little city of Udupi.

On Sunday, November 26, they are expected to pass resolutions on how the Ram temple issue should be solved and how they plan to build the temple if the court delivers a verdict in their favour.

This is the second time that Udupi is hosting the Dharma Sansad. Previously, it was held in 1985 but this forum is seen as one of the biggest, where like-minded individuals are expected to resolve the issue.
