Modi meets UP mayors, takes dig at lack of development in Amethi

Uncategorized

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a veiled dig at the lack of development in Rahul Gandhi’s constituency, Amethi, during his interaction with the recently elected Mayors and other heads of Nagar Parishads and Nagar Panchayats of Uttar Pradesh.

“Chandrama Devi will head Amethi’s Nagar Panchayat. I could sense her anguish on the lack of development in Amethi so far and could see the determination to work for Amethi’s growth,” Modi scoffed in one of his tweets.

The PM, interestingly, tweeted photographs and a short synopsis of his interaction with each of them.

Two other BJP leaders from Amethi – Mahesh Pratap Sonkar, heading the Jais Nagar Palika Parishad and Brijesh from Musafirkhana – were part of the delegation that met the PM.

The delegation was accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and party’s state president Mahendra Pandey.

About Brijesh, Modi said “he seems all set to transform Amethi and ensure this district receives the care it deserves” which was another comment on the neglect of Gandhi pocket borough ahead of Rahul’s elevation as Congress president.

The PM stated that Sonkar “has our best wishes in serving Amethi and ensuring the youth of this district have a bright future”.

He also spoke to Mridula Jaiswal, the mayor of Modi’s Varanasi parliamentary constituency.

“The support Kashi has shown to BJP and me personally is phenomenal. Our aim is to create a prosperous Kashi. Over the last three years lot of work has happened and we will build on this in the years to come,” he posted on twitter.

Modi said people’s participation has an important role in the transformation of cities as he congratulated the chiefs of civic bodies.

Of the 16 municipal corporations that went to polls late November, BJP candidates won 14 mayoral seats, including in Lucknow, Agra, Varanasi, Moradabad, Kanpur, Ghaziabad and Allahabad.
