Microsoft bets big on connected vehicle solutions

Microsoft is actively participating in the connected vehicle solutions and mobility space, powered by its Intelligent Cloud Services Intelligent Edge and AI suite of solutions.

Interacting with DH, Microsoft India Chief Operating Officer Meetul Patel said that the mobility industry is going through a significant transformation and connected vehicles will play a major role in it, given the government’s initiatives around Intelligent Transportation Systems.

“Our connected vehicles solutions include big data analytics, telematics, infotainment systems, mapping services, driver assistance and more,” he said.

Patel said that the need for a connected vehicles solution is growing in the country with the new policy initiative of the government and is being supported by domestic automotive companies.

“We find great opportunity with our connected vehicle platform. Besides providing connected experiences, the platform helps enhance driver performance and productivity,” he said.

Microsoft’s Connected Vehicle Offering is a reference solution purposed for automotive and mobility scenarios and include productivity, customer engagement, navigation and predictive services.

“It optimises the customer experience while reducing driver distraction and safety hazards via the availability of Skype and Calendar services, which can be invoked by voice commands,” he said.

Microsoft is connected across the entirety of a customer’s digital life to strengthen the relationship with OEMs through new, proactive, and better experiences, including CRM integration.

“Our Connected ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) increases safety, optimises vehicle performance, deliver real-time information to the driver or semi/fully autonomous driving system,” he said.

“Absorbing complex data sets from various external sources like weather, traffic etc. as well as vehicle data, Microsoft is building AI models that enable connected mobility scenarios,” he said.

The company uses insights from vehicle data to prevent downtime, warranty and recall issues, and offer new services to customers that improve their user experience.

Microsoft recently announced its partnership with taxi aggregator Ola to avail Microsoft Azure for Ola Play, the company’s existing connected car platform. (DH)
