Karnataka Governor should have allowed Congress-JDS to form govt, says Shiv Sena

As Congress launched a scathing attack on BJP over the ongoing political drama in Karnataka, the biggest rebuke to BJP has come from ally Shiv Sena.

Speaking to India Today, senior Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said that the Governor of Karnataka should have given Congress-JD(S) combine a chance to form government in the state. Raut also felt that the recent developments in Karnataka have set a bad precedent.

“BJP should have had patience. Heavens wouldn’t have fallen if they lost in one state. They should have allowed JD(S) and Congress alliance to form the government. Anyway, their government would not have lasted. Today, we have set a precedent which will be mentioned in times to come,” Raut said.

“Goa and Manipur are small states compared to a bigger and important state like Karnataka. People have already forgotten what happened there, but Karnataka would not be forgotten soon,” he added.

While lambasting the BJP, Raut upheld the importance of the Constitution and law and dignity of Governor. “My mind is with BJP, as we are against Congress, but when it comes to Constitution, law and dignity of Governor, we feel that they [Congress and JD(S)] should have got a chance,” Raut said.

In response to the Congress president Rahul Gandhis tweet on death of democracy Raut said, “Everyone says Democracy has been killed today. But there is no democracy left to be killed, it is dead. Elections are of no use. They have become meaningless.

Further, Raut said that proving majority will not be an easy task for BJP. Raut also slammed MLAs who are now switching sides.

“Horse-trading is unfortunate. People elect these horses but after elections these horses become donkeys. I am sure black money is flowing behind the curtains in Karnataka,” said Raut who is also the executive editor of the party’s mouthpiece Saamana.
