Harak Singh Rawat discussed problem faced by employees of private sugar mills

Dehradun: Harak Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Forests and Wildlife, Environmental and Solid Waste Management, Labour, Employment, Industrial Training, Ayush & Ayush Education discussed the problems faced by the employees in the sugar mills in the state,  during a meeting held to discuss the minimum wages in the private sugar mills at Vidhan Sabha.

He directed the officials to ensure Minimum Wage system is implemented in such organsiations where the work is done by the labourers and if the  system is flouted then a case must be registered against the people violating this system.

The Minister said that the order released by sugar cane department has been stayed by High Court on 12th June and  hence the decision will be taken on the basis of the order dated 2016 and thereafter the action will taken after the final orders of the  High Court.

He said that there is no stay on the 2016 GO by high court hence the labour department should ensure minimum wages to the employees on this basis. In addition to this the government and private sugar mills should first provide arrear resolution facilities and on receiving the budget, the arrears should be paid to the employees.

Labour commissioner/ member secretary Dr Anand Shrivastava, MD Uttarakhand sugar mills AK Bhattacharya, Executive Director Doiwala sugar mill Manmohan Singh and the representatives from  the trade unions were present on the occasion.
