Coordination essential for nature and development: Chief Minister

Dehradun: Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra SinghRawat has said that coordination among the nature and development is very important. We all have responsibility towards Himalayan and environment protection. To save our mountains, rivers and cities from plastic, we have to make efforts at a large scale. Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat participated as Chief Guest at the Foundation Day and Golden Jubilee programme of the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, GMS Road, Dehradun.

While congratulations and extending his good wishes on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Day of the institute, the Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride that Institute like Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology is located in Uttarakhand. This institute is the pillar of strength of our dedicated and talented scientists. The institute has been doing research work on Himalayas for 50 years. There is extensive scope for research and study on Himalaya.

Chief Minister said that the concern for Himalayan and environmental protection is responsibility of all of us. In this direction, political and scientific thinking must work together. With the protection of nature, achieving the development goal is a big challenge. He said that establishing coordination between nature and development is a great skill. Today, plastic has become a part of our lives in everyday life. At the same time, it has also become a major challenge for the environment. Earth is changing into a plastic planet. It is a challenge before our scientists that how to undertake development without causing any damage to our environment. They have to research in the direction of continuous development and protection of nature and have to guide the society. All possible assistance will be given by the government to the scientists for this.

Chief Minister said that along with being a Himalayan state, most of the part of Uttarakhand is forestry. The state is providing eco-services (environmental services) to the country. The culture of the state has been eco-friendly. Love with nature and environment protection is there in our tradition. Under the rejuvenation mission of Rispana and Kosi rivers, a massive tree plantation campaign will be started by the state government with the active participation of the people.

In the function, Chief Minister honoured Padma Shri awardee former scientist Dr. V.S.Thakur of Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology. Along with it, the Chief Minister released the book of the digital transformation of the research papers of the Institute and book of scientist K.P.Jyual.

On this occasion, Director of Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology Meera Tiwari, Scientist Shailesh Nayak, Kishore Kumar and other scientists associated with the Institute were present.
