Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurates the office building of Rural Development and Migration Commission

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the office building of Rural Development and Migration Commission in Pauri district. Later, the first meeting of Rural Development and Migration Commission was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat. In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the main purpose of setting up migration commission is to prevent evacuation of rural areas by developing them. He hoped that after the formation of the commission, it will succeed in it’s mission. He said that the villages which have been evacuated due to migration. He said that the trend of reverse migration reported in some areas should also to be studied. He said that the impact of State Government decision to introduce NCERT books in schools on migration should also be studied.

Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the state government plans to develop Gram Panchayats as growth center which will also help start reverse migration in remote areas of the state. He said that there was need to focus on  specialities of each region. Like in Kirtinagar, Tehri Garhwal, Mango-Ginger  produced are of  very good quantities. The Tons valley provides a good yield of tomato and  it should be encouraged. The production of such crops should be done, which won’t be harmed by animals.

The Chief Minister said that there was need to study various types of migrations and it’s causes. There is also need to pay attention to the reasons behind local migration. A study also needs to be done on lack of infrastructural facilities in those areas where migration has happened. 

Cent-percent Survey complete in all villages of Uttarakhand

The Vice President of Migration Commission S. S. Nagi has informed that the  website of the Migration Commission –www.uttarakhandpalayanayog.com has started working . It will be easy to get suggestions from people through the website. He informed that the Commission has conducted cent-percent survey in all the villages of Uttarakhand. The survey has gathered information on various facts related to migration of villagers. He said that reverse migration has also been seen in many areas of the state. Currently the data is being computerized which will be published soon.

Uttarakhand Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, MLA Mukesh Koli, Principal  Secretary Manisha Panwar and Additional Commissioner Dr. R.S. Pokhriya were also present on the occasion.
