Brand Modi has established itself across India, say UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Uncategorized

Brand Narendra Modi has established itself across India, the prime minister’s BJP colleague and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak TV. Adityanath told Aaj Tak executive editor Sweta Singh he wasn’t a contender for Modi’s post.

“I am not a contender for any posts, I am a yogi, the party has given me an opportunity of serving the people of the state and I am doing it,” he said. The BJP’s recent electoral fortunes in Uttar Pradesh have been mixed.

First, it lost Adityanath’s Gorakhpur seat and Keshav Prasad Maurya’ Phulpur seat to the Samajwadi Party, whose victory in both Lok Sabha bypolls was enabled by the Bahujan Samaj Party’s decision not to contest.

Then, the BJP won nine out of ten Rajya Sabha seats, and denied the BSP the chance to send one of its members to the Rajya Sabha.

During the interview, Adityanath pointed to the BJP’s “overconfidence” as a reason for its defeat in the Gorakhpur and Phulpur bypolls. He did so on counting day, too.

“Whenever you are over confident about something these situations arise, but this is a lesson. In the coming days we shall learn from these mistakes and improve.” (India today)
