Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal takes stock of situation of damage to paddy crop due to excessive rains in US Nagar district

Dehradun:  Uttarakhand Agriculture, Agriculture Marketing, Agriculture Processing, Parks and Plantations, Silk development Subodh Uniyal held an important meeting of directorate level officers on the issue of damage to paddy crops due to excessive rains in Uadham Singh Nagar district at his camp office at Yamuna colony.

 The Minister instructed the officers that a control at Nyay Panchayat level should be established in the district so that contact could be made with the control room in case of excessive rains. He also instructed that process to provide immediate compensation to affected farmers should be initiated.

 The Minister also talked to Kumaon Commissioner and District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar and directed them to visit the affected areas and with the assistance of agriculture and revenue departments make an assessment of the damage to the crops so that farmers can get compensation from insurance companies on time.

 He also sought information from Chief Agriculture Officer, Udham Singh Nagar district about the worst hit areas of the district. The Chief Agriculture Officer, Udham Singh Nagar informed that damage has occurred in the areas of Khatima, Jaspur and Gadarpur.  The farmers were advised to immediately contact the Chief Agriculture Officer, Udham Singh Nagar and insurance companies in case of water logging.
