Uncategorized

As the talks about shaping up a third-front is gaining ground, former Congress President Sonia Gandhi has reached out to Opposition parties as well as miffed allies of BJP.

UPA Chief Sonia Gandhi will be throwing a dinner on March 13 for her allies and a few ‘allies’ of BJP.

According to sources, Congress has invited Opposition parties’ leaders for dinner on March 13 wherein they will chart out the strategy to take on BJP.

“We will discuss various issues to be raised inside the Parliament as well as how to achieve a better coordination on various matters to corner BJP,” said a senior Opposition party leader.

According to sources, Congress has also invited TMC Chief Mamta Banarjee for this dinner but the West Bengal Chief Minister is yet to finalise whether she will attend the dinner or not.

Meanwhile, the Congress has also reached out to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

“TDP, BJD are also miffed with the way BJP has treated them. We have extended invitations to them too. It is a step towards strengthening the fight against BJP and anyone who agrees with common minimum agenda of ours is welcomed,” added a senior Congress leader.

Political pundits term this entire move a fresh bid by Congress to forge a united front against BJP and PM Narendra Modi before 2019 Lok Sabha polls and also to pacify some of its opposition allies. (indiatoday)
