New Delhi: Commemorating 127th birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, MeiTY has decided to conduct a 10-day activity drive to implement the vision and mission of Baba Saheb Ambedkar at grass-root level with the help of Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) operating the Common Service Centre’s (CSC).The event will start with a one day workshop “Dalit Empowerment through CSCs” in Patna to be inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronics & IT and Law & Justice, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad.
The day-long workshop that will be attended by 200 VLEs and certified candidates under the PMGDISHA scheme, will showcase the impact and progress made by the CSC VLEs in delivering e-governance services and digital empowerment schemes among the Dalit and marginalized communities in Bihar, through the Common Services Centres (CSC). During the 10 day activity programme CSC and VLEs will be distributing sanitary napkin among women, organize free health camps, create awareness on use of toilets among SC/ST community and registration of all Scheduled caste / Tribe candidates under PMGDISHA etc.
Currently, there are 2.92 lakh CSCs spread across the country, reaching out to 2.15 lakh Gram panchayats. Nearly 52,000 Women VLE’s are operating a CSC out of which 30,000 are from SC/ST communities. VLE’s have been championing empowerment of community members through various initiatives of Common Services Centers like digital literacy, skill development, telemedicine, LED Bulb manufacturing unit, etc.
