Dehradun: Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed gratitude to Google for releasing a doodle on “Chipko Movement” on it’s 45th anniversary. He said that Gaura Devi, and women from Raeni village had started “Chipko Movement”. The village women had clung onto trees to prevent them from being cut during the movement. The movement by women attained great achievement and was spread across the state. He said movement was started to prevent cutting of trees, but later became non-violent protest for environment conservation. The movement spread not only throughout India but also became an inspiration for environment conservation worldwide.
