97 Employees Receive Permanent Appointment Letters at Garhwal University

Srinagar. Thursday was a historic day for long-serving employees of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. In the second phase, the university administration distributed permanent appointment letters to 97 Level-1 employees. Upon receiving the appointment letters, the joy of years of struggle was clearly visible on the employees’ faces. State Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat and Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandhari were the chief guests at the appointment letter distribution ceremony held in the university’s ACL Hall. Both guests presented the appointment letters to the employees and extended their congratulations and best wishes. It is noteworthy that the process of regularizing a total of 147 daily and fixed-wage employees at Garhwal University is being completed. This matter, which had been pending in the High Court for a long time, was approved by the university’s Executive Council (EC) on May 9th in a meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shriprakash Singh. On this occasion, Chief Guest Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat stated that the state government is constantly striving for the welfare of employees and the overall development of the university. He stated that a concrete action plan will be formulated in a meeting with the university administration to address the various problems of non-teaching staff, and that discussions will also be held with the Union Education Minister before June 15th. Referring to the state government’s various schemes in the field of higher education, Dr. Rawat said that 10,000 students in the state will be provided free online and offline coaching for competitive exams such as IIT, NIT, IAS, and PCS. Additionally, students and teachers will be provided with assistance of up to ₹15 lakh to encourage research. Five outstanding professors from five colleges will also be honored on Teachers’ Day. Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandhari, while congratulating the employees, said that he was present here today not as a public representative, but as an alumnus of the university. He assured all possible support for the university’s development. He also suggested installing CCTV cameras outside the Chaaras campus to improve security, cleanliness, and effectively control drug abuse. University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shriprakash Singh stated that due to the efforts of Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, the university’s problems were effectively presented to the Union Education Minister, paving the way for the regularization of employees. He added that the process of staff rationalization is underway, and regular Finance Officers and Controller of Examinations have been appointed. The recruitment process for other vacant positions will begin soon. Present at the event were Registrar Prof. Y.P.
