National Seminar Organized by Department of Tourism on World Tourism Day

Srinagar (Garhwal): On the occasion of World Tourism Day, a national seminar focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and various dimensions of tourism was organized today by the University’s Department of Tourism. The seminar was inaugurated via video conferencing by the Honorable Cabinet Minister and Tourism Minister of the Government of Uttarakhand, Shri Satpal Maharaj.
The Chief Guest of the program was the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Shri Prakash Singh, under whose guidance and leadership this national seminar was conducted. Keynote speaker Professor S. C. Bagri shared his insights on the contemporary tourism landscape and its various facets.
During the seminar, detailed discussions took place on various disciplines of tourism, contemporary tourism trends, and the role and potential of artificial intelligence in the tourism sector. Participants shared their perspectives on potential transformations in tourism research, destination management, visitor experience, marketing, and tourism services driven by AI.
The University’s Dean of Students’ Welfare and the Dean of Promotion & Recruitment also shared their experiences and thoughts during the event. The seminar witnessed active participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students of the department. Around 30 research scholars and students presented research papers on various topics and engaged in academic discussions on key issues related to tourism and AI.
The technical sessions of the seminar were chaired and co-chaired by Professor Atul Dhyani, Professor Mahendra Babu Kurva, Dr. Sarvendra Yadav, and Dr. Anil Goyal. Experts deliberated and discussed the research papers presented during these sessions.
The entire national seminar was organized under the direction and coordination of Professor Rashmi Dhodi (Convener) and Dr. Sarvesh Uniyal (Co-Convener). At the beginning of the program, Professor Rakesh Kumar Dhodi, Director of the Department of Tourism, welcomed the Vice-Chancellor, Chief Guest, Keynote Speaker, university officials, faculty members, staff, research scholars, and students, appreciating everyone’s cooperation for the successful organization of the event.
At the conclusion of the program, a vote of thanks was extended to all the guests, speakers, session chairs, co-chairs, research scholars, students, and everyone involved in the organization. Thus, the national seminar organized on World Tourism Day concluded successfully with meaningful academic discussions on tourism education, research, and the prospects of artificial intelligence in the tourism sector.
