Women Welfare Minister Arya reviews preparations for World Menstruation Hygiene Day

Dehradun: Minister of State for Women Welfare and Child Development, Animal Husbandry, Sheep and Goat Husbandry, Fodder and Meadows Development & Fisheries (Independent Charge) Rekha Arya reviewed the preparations for the forthcoming World Menstruation Hygiene Day programme to be held in Dehradun on May 28, during a meeting held at Vidhan Sabha office on Monday.  She said that a grand event is being organized in Dehradun on the World Menstruation Hygiene Day, wherein the girls and women, primarily from poor strata, will be persuaded to use sanitary pads and maintaining cleanliness during menstruation. She said that during the programme, as many as 10,000 girls and women will be distributed sanitary napkins and umbrellas.

She further said that the girls and women will get the sanitary napkins at Anganwari centres as well. The Minister added that sanitary napkin and menstruation is not an issue of embarrassment but that of awareness. Arya further said that this program will be historic in the field of women awareness. Sanitary napkin programme would set new heights in the field of cleanliness. Through this message, the women can avoid the problem of infection. The programme would inculcate a self-confidence among the women. On this occasion, Director ICDS Ranvir Singh Chauhan, Project Director Child Committee Aarti Balodi, DPO Dehradun Sanjiv Kumar Singh and others were present.
