North Central Railway is known for the incorporation of new technology and is always pioneering and constantly striving in the field of cutting-edge technologies. In the same sequence, under the efficient guidance of Sr DSTE/Kanpur Shri Ashish Kumar Saxena the indication system of the track feed charger has been successfully installed in the Station master Room by the signal staff of Kanpur area.
In the past, when the DC track circuit failed, the main reason was the malfunctioning of the track feed charger due to which the battery of the DC track circuit gets discharged and the track circuit could not get electricity. It took time to replace the track feed charger, which caused the problem of trains getting delayed. Indication, buzzer and acceptance button of track feed charger has been provided in the station master room under the latest thinking by the S&T Department to solve this problem in Kanpur area.
In today’s time, as soon as the track feed charger malfunctions, the station master gets immediate information through indications and buzzers. At the same time the signal department immediately changes the track feed charger after the information so that the battery is not fully discharged and the trains can reach their destination on time without any delay. This technology has been installed at 16 out of 25 stations (Sarsaul, Rooma, Chakeri, Chandari, Panki, Rura, Ambiyapur, Jhinjhak, Kanchausi, Phaphund, Pata, Samho, Bharthana, Jaswant Nagar, Balrai, Bhadan) of Kanpur Area. With this innovative technology, the malfunction of the track feed charger can be communicated through the data logger to the concerned personnel immediately by a message to bring more dynamics in the diagnosis of failure.
Whereas in the past the S&T department employees had to visit the DC track circuit frequently, today the signal department is able to diagnose the problem through preventive maintenance due to the nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 epidemic. At least in time, the resources of the railway are being supervised by the staff and the movement of goods trains is going on smoothly, so that the supply of essential materials is being done smoothly throughout the nation.
