Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Launches Training of Mobile Banking for Youth

New Delhi: Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Vijay Goel here today launched Digital Training campaign on mobile banking for the youth. The idea is to promote the benefits of online banking and boost the methods of cashless transactions. The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan which comes under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will be leading this initiative and has invited interested youngsters to participate in the various training camps being organised across India.With this initiative, these youngsters will not only educate people about the benefits of cashless society but also get certificates that would help them to teach these skills further. The aim is to create widespread awareness about the ways and means to transact in a cashless society.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Vijay Goel said that he salutes revolutionary step taken by Prime Minster Shri Narendra Modi. He said that Prime minister has utmost faith in youth of the country and believes that the youth will contribute immensely towards promoting тАЬDigital EconomyтАЭ and it is our duty to carry forward his vision to make Indian society a cashless society.

Quoting the Prime minister, he said, Shri Narendra Modi while addressing the youth during тАШMann Ki BaatтАЩ said that the amount of experience and knowledge our youth possess today is immense. And they will understand the cause for this step and contribute in making it successful. For the betterment of the nation, our dream is to make the society 100% cashless; however, I do agree that doing this overnight is challenging. But we can certainly move in the direction of less cash, thereby eventually achieving the goal of a cashless society. The youth will play an integral role in achieving this goal and thus I appeal to the youth for their support.тАЭ

In our country today, more than 1 billion people use mobile phones and over 30 crore have smartphones. It is interesting to note that number of mobile phone users is increasing at an approximate rate of 11 crore per day. Additionally, all banks across the country, be it government run, co-operative or private banks, all are offering debit card / credit card to their customers efficiently. Given to these statistics, it should not be challenging to move towards cashless transactions.

Shri Goel further stated that he does agree that with Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes being banned, people would have faced and might continue to face some problem for short term. However, one must see the far reaching benefits of this initiative. He said, the move of the Prime minister would definitely make progress towards reducing the economic and social differences prevalent in the society. He said in addition to this, in the coming 15 years, India will certainly achieve the position of a global leader for which the transformation has already begun.
