When Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mere Pyare Prime Minister hit theatres in March this year, it won the hearts of critics as well as moviegoers. The film’s makers, including the distributors, Pen India Ltd and the music label , Sony Music, through innovative marketing strategies made sure that the film got enough screens and avenues on the digital platform. Now, Mere Pyare Prime Minister has won the SCREENXX award for best use of social media by a brand.
The movie, starring Om Kanojiya as Kanhu, Anjali Patil as Sargam, Atul Kulkarni as Prime minister’s official and Makarand Deshpande as Sainath came came up with flying colours in the PMKOCHITTHI Contest.
For the uninitiated, the SCREENXX Awards are designed to recognise and celebrate excellence in digital video content and OTT platform space. Taking about the victory, Pen India Chairman Jayantilal Gada says, “When we take on a film, we make it our utmost responsibility to do justice with its distribution and visibility. We at Pen have always moved with the changing times and we realise the importance of the digital space in today’s day and age.
