CM calls for collective efforts to rejuvenate river Rispana

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat has said the work for rejuvenating river Rispana should be started from Rispana to Rishiparna on  mission mode. He called upon the people to contribute in the project. He said that work to dig trenches from starting to end point of river Rispana should be done in a day and instructed officials to select a date at the earliest. He was expressing his views at a meeting on rejuvenation work for river Rispana with officials held at his camp office on Saturday.

He said that work to plant sapling and cleanliness in river Rispana with the help of local residents should be started in the second week of July and to be completed in a day. He has called for public cooperation for rejuvenating river Rispana. He said that financial assistance would be accepted from different organizations and  a trust would be set up for the purpose. He said everybody should whole heartily contribute for mission Rishiparna and different organizations, and education institutions should be involved in this mission.

He told the officials to divide the river in sectors and further divide these into sub- sectors to achieve the target of planting saplings, cleanliness, and to dig trenches, which requires nearly 25,000 manpower for accomplishing the target in a day. He laid stress on planting different species of saplings in river Rispana.  He said fruit and fodder bearing saplings, and napier grass should be planted on priority. He said that masses should be sensitized on a large scale to achieve the target.

Expressing his views, Dehradun District Magistrate SA Murugesan said that the entire Rispana river has been divided into 15 sectors and work plan has been already made by eco task force, forest department, irrigation departments, Jal Nigam, Nagar Nigam, and MDDA.

State Finance Minister Prakash Pant, Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary Anand Vardhan, Secretary Arvind Singh Hyanki,  MDDA vice chairman Ashish Kumar Srivastava, City Commissioner Vijay Kumar were present in the meeting.
