Along with developing basic facilities for sports, promoting sports culture as well: CM Rawat

Dehradun: Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the ‘Dehradun Arena’ at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Raipur Dehradun. In ‘Dehradun Arena’, under the private-public partnership, the management and supervision of the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium will be done by a private company IFLS for the next 30 years. An agreement in this regard was inked between Sports Department, Uttarakhand Government and the private company IFLS in the presence of the Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat and Sports Minister Mr. Arvind Pandey.

Expressing gratitude towards the Sports Department and IFLS, Chief Minister termed the agreement as historic and significant. Chief Minister said that Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Raipur Dehradun is equipped with international level facilities. He said that with the agreement, sports particularly cricket would get help in promotion at the grassroot level. He said that with the geographical conditions of the Uttarakhand and natural struggling tendency of the youth of the state, if proper training arrangements are made, the state can get many sports talents.

Sportspersons of Uttarakhand are performing well in other states, at national and international level. He said that along with developing basic facilities for sports, the state government is also promoting sports culture. He said that there are good possibilities of water sports in the state. In Uttarkashi also, there are immense possibilities of water sports. The Lakes here are very deep and beautiful from nature point of view. We have cricket stadium of international standards. In Almora, sanction has been granted for developing international level shooting range. Along with the sufficient sports talent in Uttarakhand, the geographical conditions here also encourage sports. State government would extend all possible help to encourage the emerging sports talent. The interest of our children is supreme for us.

On this occasion, MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, Secretary Sports Dr. Bhupinder Kaur Aulakh, Director Sports Department Vimmi Sachdeva were present.
